Trainees are asked to submit an abstract of an interesting case that they have been involved in, and which has learning points that may aid other anaesthetists in their management of similar cases. The three best submissions as judged in the preliminary review will be invited to present their work as an oral presentation at the conference and the audience asked to vote for their favourite. A cash prize will be awarded to the winner.

Poster Competition

The remaining successful authors will be invited to display a poster. Entries will be allocated into one of the following categories depending on the grade of the presenting author:

  • Foundation Year Trainees
  • Core Trainees
  • ST3/ST4
  • ST5+

A cash prize and a certificate will be awarded to the winner in each category. The judges also reserve the right to award discretionary certificates.

Medical Students Prize

Medical students are invited to submit an abstract for poster display on a theme related to Anaesthesia/Pain/ITU. A cash prize will be awarded to the winner.

For more information, please view the detailed information and guidance on the abstract submission process and requirements.

If your abstract is accepted to the conference, it is a condition of acceptance that a trainee author or co-author registers and attends the conference.

CLOSING DATE FOR ALL SUBMISSIONS: 23:59 ON WEDNESDAY 5 FEBRUARY 2020

All accepted abstracts in the above categories will be published in Anaesthesia in the form of a fully referenceable online supplement (NB Editor-in-Chief reserves the right to refuse publication, e.g. where there are major concerns over ethics and/or content). For more information on submitting abstracts please refer to our abstract submission guidelines.

Assessors of submitted abstracts are blinded to the authors and required to highlight any competing interests during assessment.
