Human factors strategies can help us as anaesthetists and theatre team members to optimise our performance under pressure, and help us and our teams to move back into a ‘zone of flow’ when pressure rises. Anaesthesia is a ‘team sport’, and the whole team needs to be aware of such strategies to enable them to be fully effective.
