Benefits of membership

Since 1932 the Association of Anaesthetists has been a voice for the anaesthesia specialty. Today we represent over 10,000 anaesthetists in the UK and abroad. Wherever you are in your career becoming a part of this supportive and respected community gives you access to a range of benefits and services including:

Industry-leading publications

Members can access the internationally respected Anaesthesia Journal (as well as receiving exclusive access to the Anaesthesia app) and Anaesthesia Reports, our collection of case reports in anaesthesia, pain medicine and intensive care. Plus you'll get copies of the latest Anaesthesia News.

You can also access our wide range of patient safety and care guidelines (including our members only app). Members can help shape these popular documents by joining one of our working parties.

We also publish a range of career stage specific guides, including Trainee, SAS and Less Than Full Time (LTFT) handbooks.

Free patient transfer insurance cover

Members receive free worldwide patient transfer cover of up to £1 million. Terms and conditions apply.

Discounts on events

Members receive discounted rates on over 65 Association events a year, including our flagship conferences, webinars, seminars and core topics meetings.

Online learning

Our members-only online learning platform Learn@ and app contain a wealth of educational and CPD resources, including over 1,000 video lectures.

Learn in your own time and at your own pace and keep a record of your completed CPD for use in appraisals and revalidation.

Advocacy and campaigning for the anaesthesia profession

We react and respond to the latest concerns and challenges within the specialty, from junior doctors' contracts to battling fatigue in the workplace. We cannot undertake this work without the support of our members.

We work with organisations including the British Medical Association (BMA), the Royal College of Anaesthetists (RCoA) and government departments to represent and support anaesthetists.

Claim tax relief on your membership fees

COVID-19 guidance and information

We are providing current information and signposting to other sources in a rapidly changing situation. We have also run free COVID-19 related webinars that you can watch back. Wellbeing

The mental and physical wellbeing of all our members, and those that work within the anaesthesia community, is an integral part of our work here at the Association. Visit our wellbeing pages to find out more.

Career support

We also offer a mentoring service, a bursary scheme, and numerous grants and awards to enable you to undertake research, educational projects, or professional development.

And we provide opportunities for working overseas with our SAFE project.
