How to submit

If you would like to submit an article to the magazine, or you have an idea for an article, please contact the Editorial team

Please read our guidance to authors carefully.

All articles are reviewed by the Editor and the Editorial Team for quality, relevance and interest. If appropriate, you may be asked to revise your article before it is accepted and published in the magazine.

Article types

We consider the following submissions:

Features

These are leading pieces in every issue of the magazine that looks at a current issue within anaesthesia and can cover a range of perspectives. You could use this article to interview and quote key people relevant to your topics and set out the current state-of-play. Make sure all facts are appropriately considered and correctly referenced.

Opinions

These articles aim to make a single strong, novel, and well-argued point. Opinion pieces are topical, insightful and should aim to grab the attention of the reader. Make sure your writing is fair, you have considered different perspectives, and is supported by clear evidence.

Work and Wellbeing

These articles can explain ways to boost your CV, tips and tricks for every anaesthetist, experiences of rotational training or work abroad, wellbeing and any training or educational programmes that you have attended, and you would like to share your experiences with the readers. We also welcome submissions of articles on hobbies/sports/creativity/charity work/lifestyle, etc.

Letters

We welcome original thoughtful, insightful, creative, or amusing Letters to the Editor on topical matters. If you want to write about a problem with a drug or piece of equipment, in the first instance please report the matter to the manufacturer and the MHRA. We will usually publish the manufacturer’s opinion alongside your letter. This might either be their response received by you, or sometimes we will contact them directly (therefore please provide the manufacturer’s contact details to us).

Book Reviews

We welcome requests for book reviews from external organisations, or reviews from our readers on a book that has shaped and influenced their practice or their personal life and wellbeing. We also offer a written interview format with the authors. Please reach out to the Editor in the first instance to agree on the best format for the book review.
