NHS England's updated guidance on accessing patient records
We welcome NHS England's updated guidance on accessing patient records. While we strongly support the preventing of accessing patient records for illegitimate reasons, the previous version of the guidance meant that many important reasons for accessing records - follow-up of the patient's progress, quality assurance, pre-op planning for subsequent operations for example - appeared to be no longer allowed. We thank NHS England for listening to clinicians and making the necessary changes.
