Association advice during strikes

We know that many of you have questions about what to do during the forthcoming junior doctors’ strike.

Many of you are worried or confused about what you can or cannot do, or what your employer can expect you to do or not do. We know that many of you are receiving conflicting advice and that this is causing concern. You are also worried about being required to work outside your normal area or your limit of competence. Consultants, SAS doctors, locally-employed doctors and trainees each have their own unique set of concerns.

We are not permitted to give employment advice, but we would point individuals to the extensive information that is available from the BMA, HCSA and GMC. We would also strongly advise individuals to engage with the Local Negotiating Committee in their own organisation, who should have a full understanding of the local picture.

We would remind everyone of the value of being a member of a trade union at this time.
