What does the Association Trainee Committee mean to you?
An opportunity to be part of an acclaimed anaesthetic body that’s key in developing, innovating and improving anaesthetic practice and training both in the UK and overseas.
What has most surprised you since joining the trainee committee?
How pretty much every issue raised and discussed on the WhatsApp channel can be eloquently represented with a meme.
What would you like to achieve in your time on the trainee committee?
To help provide trainee insight on the committee positions I have been allocated and contribute to an article for the journal.
Why did you decide to become an anaesthetist/doctor?
I really enjoy the balance of practical skills and theoretical knowledge that exists in anaesthetics. Also, our capacity to manipulate physiology real time is quite a unique aspect to our profession that I find very engaging.
What do you like most about your job?
Getting calls at 4:00am to cannulate the 65-year T1DM for their maintenance fluids…
What do you like to do in your free time?
At the risk of living up to a few stereotypes, I’m a keen cyclist, runner and hill walker. Living in Scotland provides a wonderful backdrop for many of these activities (if visible through the rain and fog).
