“Come join us for a fantastic programme put together by trainees, for trainees! Internationally renowned speakers will be sharing their expertise on both clinical and non-clinical topics. Get curriculum competences signed-off at our workshops, and the exam sessions will give you a head-start on tricky topics. Of course, it’s also a chance to spend a few days with colleagues and friends in the great city of Bristol! See you there!” -  Dr Genevieve O'Farrell, Local Organising Committee, Trainee Conference 2022

Anaesthetists in training (FYs, Core Trainees and Specialty Trainees), new consultants and medical students, come join us in person in Bristol for Trainee Conference 2022 on 12-14 July. Booking is now open, with special early booking discounts for Association members.

As the UK’s only national anaesthetic trainee meeting, Trainee Conference offers the opportunity to come together for your continuing professional development:

  • Deepen your knowledge of the life-saving, life-changing specialty of anaesthesia
  • Catch up with friends and colleagues
  • Meet with leading representatives from industry
  • Make new connections that will support you throughout your career

Following the success of last year’s online event that attracted over 500 delegates, Trainee Conference 2022 will be delivered as a physical conference at Ashton Gate Stadium. It will also be live streamed online for those who are unable to attend in person. All delegates booked to attend the conference will have priority online access to conference content, to watch back at their leisure.

Learn, network and socialise!

  • Access Trainee Conference 2022 scientific programme, designed specifically for those starting out in their career as an anaesthetist.
  • 2.5 days of hot topics, clinical as well as wellbeing orientated.
  • Two exam streams on the Thursday.
  • Interactive and hands on clinical workshops, as well as career and wellbeing-focused workshops.
  • Free mentoring taster sessions.
  • Poster competition will return physically, where you can celebrate in-person the success and findings of colleagues.
  • Catch up with friends and colleagues at planned Trainee Conference social events.

Keynote speakers confirmed

  • Professor Mala Rao OBE, Director Ethnicity and Health Unit, Imperial College London will speak about diversity in the workforce.
  • Professor Adam Finn, Professor of Paediatrics at the University of Bristol, member of the Joint Committee on Vaccination and Immunisation (JCVI) will speak about his experience on the JCVI, in particular the challenges and pitfalls of communicating risk and scientific data to the general public and media.

Celebrate the success of colleagues

Away from the lecture sessions, you can check out the work of those who have been invited to present their abstracts for oral or poster presentations, as well as hear about the wellbeing projects entered for this year’s Trainee Wellbeing Initiative.

Help celebrate the Association’s 90th birthday

As well as coming together in Bristol after a long period (which is reason enough to celebrate), we will also be commemorating 90 years of the Association of Anaesthetists at Trainee Conference 2022. Join us as we say “Happy Birthday” to the Association at the popular drinks reception and social.
