Login will be available from 17:45 UK time, but the broadcast will not start until 18:00 UK time. You can log in from the comfort of your own home, your office, or any where else that is convenient. All you need is a decent internet connection and a quiet room. If you are unable to attend live do not worry, you will be automatically sent the recording 24 hours after the webinar whether you attend or not.

This webinar coincides with the COP26 meeting which will be hosted in Glasgow in the UK. Established by the United Nations (UN) at the Earth Summit in 1992, COP – or Conference of the Parties – brings together almost every country in the world to tackle issues related to climate change. This year will be the 26th annual summit.

The webinar will explore two important areas of controversy in anaesthetic practice that have a big impact on our environment and sustainability. The first is total intravenous anaesthesia versus inhalation anaesthesia. Two speakers will debate which is the best technique for patients AND for the environment and how we can improve our use of these techniques sustainably, including volatile capture technology. The second is disposable versus re-usable equipment, and two speakers will debate whether we should dispose of all our equipment to protect patients or what we can re-use and how. There will be plenty of opportunity to debate with the speakers and ask questions to really explore these two critical issues for our specialty.

Chairs: Prof Andy Klein, Editor in Chief, Anaesthesia and Dr Cliff Shelton, Lancaster
