About this webinar
LGBTQ+ patients suffer significantly worse health care outcomes than cis-heterosexual populations. More than 70% of LGBTQ+ staff feel homophobia and biphobia are a problem in the work place and >84% feel transphobia is an issue within the medical profession. The Association of Anaesthetists is excited to be collaborating with the Royal College of Surgeon's Pride in Surgery Forum (PRiSM) to bring you our first Pride in Peri-operative Practice webinar to help highlight and address some of these issues. We have a line-up of expert speakers discussing LGBTQ+ history in anaesthesia, the results of the recent BMA/GLADD survey, and the literature gaps that still exist on the experiences of LGBTQ+ staff and patients. With anaesthesia and surgery so often sharing a common work environment, collaboration both in and out of the operating theatre is key to help improve the experiences of our staff and patients.
