The Association of Anaesthetists has learnt today that Dr Krishnan Subramanian, a Consultant Anaesthetist at the Royal Derby Hospital, has died after falling ill with COVID-19.
We are deeply saddened by the loss of a colleague and extend our heartfelt condolences to his family, friends and colleagues.
Across the world anaesthetists and anaesthesiologists have made, and will continue to make, a difference to the lives of thousands of patients. Anaesthetists and theatre teams have worked incredibly hard throughout this pandemic and losing a colleague in this way is heart-breaking for all those involved.
We would like to extend our thanks and gratitude to all the staff who cared for Dr Subramanian and his family, and to all those staff in the NHS who continue to provide care and support at this difficult time.
