Workshop description

RA-UK Regional Anaesthesia Workshop

Hands-on session introducing core Plan A ultrasound-guided blocks for upper limb, trunk, and lower limb surgery. Following a brief overview of indications and safety principles, delegates rotate through small-group, faculty-led live scanning stations covering interscalene and axillary brachial plexus blocks, erector spinae plane and rectus sheath blocks, as well as femoral, adductor canal, and popliteal sciatic blocks.

The workshop emphasises practical probe positioning, recognition of key sonoanatomy, needle alignment, ergonomics, and understanding local anaesthetic spread. Designed to be high-yield and clinically applicable, the session equips residents with the confidence and structured approach needed to perform common regional anaesthesia techniques safely and effectively in everyday practice.
