Association Early Career Researcher Professorship

We are delighted to launch our new Association Early Career Researcher Professorship, an honorary, non-tenured position designed to recognise and support the next generation of academic leaders.

This professorship aims to encourage outstanding early-career researchers and experienced clinicians who are developing their academic profile, providing recognition for their achievements while supporting their continued professional and research development.

Association members who have not previously held a professorship are invited to apply. Through this initiative, the Association seeks to foster academic excellence, promote innovation, and strengthen the future of research and clinical scholarship within our community.

What applicants should demonstrate

  • High‑quality research appropriate to their career stage
  • Evidence of current achievement and future academic potential

Areas of contribution

Applicants should describe their involvement in research and one or more of the following showing how their work advances both their academic aims and the Association’s mission:

  • Safety
  • Education
  • Innovation
  • International development
  • Leadership
  • Teaching

Eligibility: Awarded to practising anaesthetists, scientists, and clinicians. Nominees must be an Association member.
Nomination: By self-nomination from an Association member. Non-members may apply, but they will be required to join as a condition of acceptance ahead of receiving the professorship. Successful candidate must retain Association membership for the duration of their term.

The deadline for nominations is 23:59 on Wednesday 26 August 2026. Awards will be presented at the Winter Scientific Meeting in London in January 2027.
