Join the Research and Innovation Committee
Following the successful appointment of several new members to our committees, we are pleased to reopen the opportunity for a member to join the Research and Innovation Committee.
This opportunity is now open to both Full and Resident Members of the Association, with the aim of encouraging enthusiastic individuals who wish to contribute to the committee’s work and support the development of research and innovation within the specialty.
The committee provides expertise and guidance on research and innovation, leads the development and delivery of the Association’s research strategy, and supports the advancement of research within the specialty. It also reviews applications for research funding through the National Institute of Academic Anaesthesia (NIAA) and awards medical elective funding to medical students interested in pursuing a career in anaesthesia, pain medicine, and intensive care medicine.

The committee meets twice a year on a Friday as a half-day meeting, one of which is held in person at 21 Portland Place, London. Videoconferencing is available for all meetings to ensure accessibility. The role is unremunerated, but reasonable travel expenses will be covered.
Successful candidates will be appointed for an initial two-year term, commencing from the Annual Members Meeting on Thursday 17 September 2026.
