Supporting anaesthetists in Ireland
The Irish Standing Committee (ISC) of the Association was established in January 1988 in response to the Irish Government’s plans to restructure and modernise the health service, as well as the review of the first common contract for consultants.
Committed to representing the interests of anaesthetists in Ireland, the ISC plays a vital role in:
- Advising the Board on Irish-specific issues and promoting the Association’s mission in Ireland
- Engaging with key stakeholders on matters related to anaesthesia practice
- Ensuring Irish representation within the Association’s committees and working groups, while regularly reviewing Ireland-specific guidelines
With a presence on the Association’s Board of Trustees, Council, the Safety, Standards, Environment, and Sustainability Committee, and the Independent Practice Task Group, the ISC ensures that the perspectives of Irish anaesthetists are actively heard and considered.
Education is also provided through the annual ISC Symposium, normally held in Dublin.
We currently have vacancies to join the committee. We are inviting nominations from eligible members to join the committee. We especially welcome nominations from members in the HSE South and Dublin South East regions. View the ISC recruitment pack for more information.
Nominees must:
- Be a full member of the Association
- Live in Ireland
- Be in good standing with the Association
- Be proposed and seconded by other full members
