The Association Awards for Excellence 2026

The Association Awards for Excellence

5 May 2026

Our re-envisioned awards programme is designed to celebrate the achievements in the speciality. From delivering exceptional patient care to advancing research, education, and inclusivity, our awards recognise that excellence takes many forms and aim to acknowledge excellence in the anaesthesia community. By broadening the scope of recognition, we hope to better reflect the full range of contributions in the field.

What's new?

One of the new additions this year is the Excellence in Charitable or Voluntary Service Award. This award recognises anaesthetists who have demonstrated exceptional dedication to charitable or voluntary work that improves patient health, enhances access to healthcare, or addresses a specific health issue. It celebrates individuals whose efforts extend beyond their professional duties to make a meaningful and lasting positive impact on patients, colleagues and communities.

How do I nominate someone for an award?

All categories within the Association's awards programme can be found here

You must submit your nominations via the portal by 23:59 on Wednesday 26 August 2026, after which they will be assessed by the Nominations and Appointments Committee. Awards will be presented at the Winter Scientific Meeting in London in January 2027

Although honours and awards cannot be made posthumously, individuals may still be recognised during the prizegiving session in acknowledgement of their contributions. Nominations and details can be submitted to [email protected]

If you know someone whose work deserves recognition, we encourage you to put them forward. These awards are an opportunity to highlight the diversity and impact of work across anaesthesia, and the people behind it.

"Being awarded the Evelyn Baker award by the Association of Anaesthetist has been an overwhelming moment in my career. This award has made me feel so appreciated by my colleagues and the organisation, and will give me further incentive to continue contributing to improving healthcare quality and patient safety"
