Future leaders in anaesthesia

Leadership development programme exclusively for anaesthetists

The Association of Anaesthetists in partnership with Bayes Business School presents Future leaders in anaesthesia – a leadership development programme uniquely designed for anaesthetists, focusing on Resident Doctors, SAS Doctors/NCHDs, and early-career Consultants who are looking to build their leadership capability.

This programme builds essential, people-centred leadership skills, deepens understanding of how to lead within the NHS, and strengthens participants’ ability to drive positive change in their teams and services. Participants will leave the programme more confident, connected, and better equipped to take the next step in their leadership journey.

A message from our Education Chair

Leadership in anaesthesia begins long before we hold a formal leadership title. Every day, anaesthetists step forward to make decisions, support colleagues and patients, guide teams, make decisions and navigate some of the most complex and demanding situations in healthcare.

But the future of our specialty depends on more than the leadership we demonstrate in the moment. It depends on our willingness to develop the skills, confidence, and vision to create lasting change. Following the success of our inaugural programme, the Future leaders in anaesthesia programme returns for a second year. It provides an opportunity to take that next step: to reflect on your strengths, challenge your thinking, learn from inspiring leaders and connect with colleagues who share your commitment to making a difference.

The ideas, decisions and leadership of today will influence the teams, services, and profession of tomorrow. I encourage you to seize this opportunity. Challenge yourself, broaden your perspective and take your place among the next generation of leaders who will help shape the future of our specialty.

Education Committee Chair
