Your voice matters. Become a Trustee of the Association
The Association is calling on SAS doctors to join its Board of Trustees. This is your chance to influence national policy, champion SAS colleagues, and ensure your voice is heard at the highest level.
Why it matters
Trustees guide the strategy, governance, and long-term sustainability of the Association, helping it remain strong and relevant for members across the UK, Ireland, and internationally. A dedicated SAS trustee ensures this vital group of anaesthetists is represented where it counts.
Who can apply
- Full SAS/NCHD members of the Association
- In current clinical practice, based in the UK or Ireland
- Not in a college-approved training post
No prior board experience? No problem. What matters is your insight, enthusiasm, and commitment.
“Sitting as a trustee has been one of the best things I’ve done in my career. The Association does a fantastic job representing anaesthetists — and you can play a key part in shaping its future.” Dr Emma Wain, Treasurer and SAS Anaesthetists
What trustees do
- Serve a three-year term with five Board meetings per year (virtual attendance possible)
- Join sub-committees aligned to your interests
- Contribute to flagship events: Winter Scientific Meeting, Annual Congress, Anaesthesia Festival, and Core Topics meetings
- Receive training in charity law, financial regulation, and public affairs
Time commitment is manageable, most trustees need only two Fridays per month. Reasonable travel expenses are reimbursed.
How to stand
- Submit your nomination via the Association website
- Get endorsement from two full members
- Write a 250-word personal statement
Deadline: 17:00 on Friday 27 March 2026
If more candidates than seats stand, an election will follow, with results announced by the end of June. Your term starts at the Annual Members Meeting during Annual Congress 2026 in Liverpool (16–18 September 2026).
Your experience matters. Your perspective counts. Put yourself forward and help lead the Association into the future.
