Meet your newly elected representatives
We’re delighted to share the results of the April elections for the Board of Trustees and the Resident Doctors Committee.
Board of Trustees
Officer elections
- Dr Emma Wain will become President Elect. Emma is an Associate Specialist at the Robert Jones and Agnes Hunt Orthopaedic Hospital in Oswestry, Shropshire. She joined the board of the Association in 2022 as the second elected SAS member, and is currently Treasurer.
- Dr Ben Hockenhull will become Vice President Elect (Governance and Publications). He is a Consultant Anaesthetist at Imperial Healthcare NHS Trust. Having previously sat on the Resident Doctors Committee, as a board member Ben has represented the Association to a number of external bodies, including sitting on the APAGBI Council.
Board elections
- Dr Ruwaida Khan has been elected as an Elected Trustee representing SAS members.
These changes to the Board of Trustees will take effect at the Annual Members Meeting, at Annual Congress 2026 on Thursday 17 September.
Resident Doctors Committee
The newly elected members of the Resident Doctors Committee officially joined the committee at the Resident Doctors Conference on Thursday 18 June 2026.
The new Resident Doctors Committee Officers are:
- Dr Drew Harding, Chair
- Dr Allan Xu, Honorary Secretary
- Dr Mel Anderson, covering the role of Vice Chair while Dr Leyla Turkoglu is on maternity leave
- Dr Toni Robinson and Dr Lucy Whitton, sharing the role of RNL Officer
The new Committee members are:
- Dr Ellen Barton
- Dr Regina Graham
- Dr Rosie Hughes
- Dr Alexandra Kendall-Smith
- Dr Peter Sykes
