SAS Committee – vacancies

Are you passionate about advocating for SAS doctors and shaping the future of your profession? The Association is looking for dedicated individuals to join our SAS Committee.

This is a fantastic opportunity to represent your peers, influence key decisions, and ensure that SAS doctors have a strong voice within the Association. The committee represents the diverse SAS workforce (including Specialty Doctors, Specialists, Staff Grades, Associate Specialists, and other SAS grades), non-trainee, Non-Consultant Hospital Doctors (Republic of Ireland) and Trust/Locally-Employed Doctors where applicable.

Eligibility

  • All applicants must be a current member of the Association on the SAS membership category. This position is open to anyone belonging to this membership group, including long-term trust/ Locally-Employed Doctors and non-trainee, Non-Consultant Hospital Doctors (Republic of Ireland). Applications will be checked before interview to ensure candidates are in the correct membership group

About the role

  • You will be appointed to the role for a three-year term
  • Committee members will be required to attend three half day committee meetings per year either held in London or virtually, and devote sufficient time to the role
  • Committee members may be asked to represent the committee at other internal or external meetings, such as other Association committees or on the working parties that produce Association guidelines
  • Committee meetings are normally held on a Friday either between 10:30 – 12:45 or 13:30 – 16:00. We strongly recommend that you discuss your plans in advance with your Clinical Director to allow variations in your workplan to allow you to attend meetings on a Friday

Submit your nomination

The deadline for nominations is 17:00 on Wednesday 20 August 2025. Nominations should be submitted electronically to [email protected]. Anyone wishing to check their eligibility is welcome to contact the Association before applying.

Your nomination should include a personal statement outlining your relevant experience and reasons for applying for the role (maximum 250 words). You should also include a copy of your short summary CV.

Applications will be considered by a panel and shortlisted candidates will be invited for an interview held via videoconference in early September 2025.
