Synopsis

This talk will explore the history of drugs and techniques available to minimise pain before the introduction of conventional anaesthetics. It will examine patients' attitudes to surgery without pain relief, and the growing pressure from society to improve surgical care in the nineteenth century.

This is a recording of a previous event, which will be sent to you after you complete your booking.
