Assistance for the anaesthetist: A Report by the Irish Standing Committee

Summary

The availability of assistance to the anaesthetist is of fundamental importance to the safe conduct of anaesthesia. Such assistance has been shown to reduce the incidence of adverse anaesthetic events and to improve patient outcome. This guideline from the Association’s Irish Standing Committee places in context the state of anaesthetic assistance in Irish hospitals, and makes recommendations for the development of this service.
