Abstract submission to WSM 2024
All accepted abstracts will be invited to display an ePoster during the conference and have their abstract published in the online supplement of Anaesthesia. Top scoring abstracts will selected for ePoster presentation during the conference and will be eligible for cash prizes. Submitters will be informed one month ahead of the meeting if their ePoster has been shortlisted for discussion. All accepted ePosters will be displayed during the conference. Only shortlisted ePosters will be discussed during the meeting.

WSM 2024 abstract and ePoster prize results.
For those accepted to the conference, the deadline for uploading ePosters will be 23:59 on Wednesday 13 December 2023. Submitters will have received upload information via email.
- ePosters must be in PORTRAIT orientation.
- Submitters are required to use the template provided when creating your ePoster. Do not change the size of the ePoster. Resolution 1080 x 1920 px.
- The template includes some recommended sections, but the design of your ePoster can be your own. Please note the Association logo and header must remain unchanged.
- The ePoster must fit on one PowerPoint slide and must not include any videos or animations.
- The poster heading should clearly indicate the names and affiliations of the authors.
- The design of your ePoster can be your own, but we recommend the following presentation structure: Introduction, methods, results, discussion. For case reports, we recommend: introduction, description, discussion, references.
- You MUST have consent to use any images used on your ePoster.
- No physical posters will be displayed during the meeting.

NELA sponsored Trainee Poster prize
The National Emergency Laparotomy Audit (NELA) are sponsoring a trainee poster prize at WSM 2024. This is for the best abstract and poster describing work undertaken in your hospital to improve care for patients having, or considered for, an emergency laparotomy.
The criteria for a successful abstract and poster will be judged on:
- Original approach or innovation, or use of improvement methodology
- Extent of multidisciplinary and/or multispecialty involvement
- The degree to which NELA data has been used and/or addressing NELA key standards of care
- Demonstration of an improvement in care, which could be improvements in processes or outcomes
