About this online seminar

We look forward to welcoming you to our upcoming seminar: Extracorporeal membrane oxygenation: what lessons have we learnt from COVID-19 pandemic?’

This seminar will cover the clinical and pharmacological management of the sickest of COVID-19 patients in our hospitals and critical care units.

We will provide an update on advanced respiratory and circulatory support and especially extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO), invasive mechanical ventilation strategies for different patient phenotypes, anticoagulation and thrombosis, the ECMO clinician’s and ECMO patient’s perspective, implementation gaps during the first wave and the role of immunosuppression in COVID-19 lung injury.

Dr Mike Charlesworth will be doing a live discussion with Dr Anushua Gupta, the author of the first ever patient-authored case report about COVID-19 ECMO along with Dr Julian Barker, the ECMO Director from Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust.
